Communications work ready for APEC

The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has mobilized all resources to prepare the best plan for communications work during the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang city.

In particular, the group has prepared technological infrastructure across 41 hotels and 14 locations where APEC meetings are held and where APEC delegates and journalists stay. Communications infrastructure has also been prepared along roads where APEC delegates and journalists travel.

The expansion of capacity has been carried out while locations for supplementary antenna and mobile network emission containers have been identified to ensure full network coverage; and the installation of cable for direct Internet connection and the allocation of signal television devices have been made ready. It has prepared 10,000 metres of field cable, three high capacity power equipment and some power generators for reserve.

So far VNPT has tested successfully services for the meetings, carried out exercises on breakdowns and solutions to breakdowns, and stationed experienced technicians on duty around the clock at locations relating to APEC activities.

In the International Press Centre alone, VNPT has provided hi-speed network transmission infrastructure to ensure smooth transmission of information and images of over 3,000 domestic and international journalists./.
