He made the statement during his working trip to the province on July 29th on the province’s socio-economic, defence and external relation situation.
During the meeting, Tran Tien Dung, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said that the province’s economy developed fast and comprehensively, with a growth of 7.5% in 2019, and actively shifted in economic structure, including 50% in industry and construction, 34.9% in service and 15.1% in agriculture.
Noting that COVID-19 had been under control in the province, he added that the province had disbursed nearly 50% of the public investment capital, at VND1.015 trillion.
Regarding external relations, he stressed that the province had carried out trade and investment activities and boosted exports through the border gate with China. “The total import-export turnover with Yunnan (China) reached USD77.37 million, in the first half of this year, including USD55.15 million in export,” he said.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh praised the province’s efforts in boosting socio-economic development, ensuring security and defence, and controlling COVID-19 amid difficulties.
He also applauded the province’s determination to disburse 100% of public investment capital in 2020, to continue to be one of the localities with the highest rate of public investment capital disbursement in the country.
Emphasizing the need to continue to boost poverty reduction to gain sustainable development, he also asked the province to strictly manage the border line, contributing to developing a peaceful border line./.
