NA’s working day on June 8th centres around law making

The National Assembly on June 8th discussed several draft laws and adopted the Law on National Defence (revised) and a resolution on the law and ordinance building programme in 2019 and adjustments to the 2018 programme.

In the morning, after passing the Law on National Defence (revised), the NA engaged in lively discussion on the bill on Vietnam’s coast guard, with 20 deputies taking the floor and five others joining in the debate.

In response to some issues raised by the deputies, Defence Minister Ngo Xuan Lich gave explanations to clarify the issues.

In the afternoon, the NA approved the resolution on the law and ordinance building programme in 2019 and adjustments to the 2018 programme.

Then the draft Law on Cultivation was tabled for discussion.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong also took the floor to clarify some issues raised by the deputies during the debate.

The NA will not meet on June 9th and 10th.

It will resume working on June 11th, with the agenda for the day covering the draft law on amnesty (revised) and the draft law on amendments and supplements to a number of articles of the Education Law.

The ongoing fifth session of the 14th NA opened on May 21st and is scheduled to conclude on June 15th./.
