Opening the meeting, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan stressed that the NA Standing Committee will give opinions on five draft laws: the Bill on Tourism (revised), the Railway Bill (revised), the Bill on Technology Transfer (revised), the Bill on Planning, and the Bill on Foreign Trade Management.

All those bills were debated at the second session of the 14th NA.

The Standing Committee will also consider for the first time four draft laws on fishery (revised), forest development and protection (revised), public debt management (revised), and denunciation (revised).

These bills will be submitted to the NA’s third session for first-time review.

Other items on the NA Standing Committee meeting’s agenda are several draft resolutions, among others.

Chairwoman Ngan said the original agenda of the NA Standing Committee’s eighth meeting included several question-and-answer sessions for NA deputies but they will be moved to the committee’s April meeting.

Following the opening ceremony, the bill on denunciations (revised) was tabled for discussions.

The NA Chairwoman shared the majority viewpoint that the law on denunciations needs to be revised to create more favorable conditions for citizens to exercise their rights in this field while clarifying responsibilities of competent agencies and organisations in dealing with denunciations, protecting whistle-blowers and ensuring fair handling of such cases.

The bill on denunciation (revised) contains major adjustments, with only 14 articles the original law to be kept unchanged while 36 articles are revised and 14 new articles are added./.
