The 34th session of the 14th National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee concluded on May 10th after three days of sitting to finalise agenda planned for the upcoming NA’s seventh plenary and discuss some other issues.

Addressing the closing ceremony, NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong asked relevant agencies to promptly finish documents for the seventh session and deliver them to NA deputies for studying as there are only 10 days to the event.
Earlier the same day, the NA Standing Committee discussed Vietnam’s joining of the International Labour Organisation (ILO)’s Convention 98, or the Right to Organise and Collective Bargaining Convention, which was approved by the organisation on July 1st, 1949.
As of January 2019, 165 out of 187 ILO member countries joined the convention, one of the eight fundamental conventions of the ILO.
The committee also discussed the allocation and using of reserve middle-term public investment for 2016-2020, as well as the addition of a new list to the middle-term public investment for 2016-2020; while giving opinions on the use of VND10 trillion (USD431.7 million) saved from decreases in investments for the nation’s important projects under the legislature’s resolution./.
