Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Commission on Popularization and Education, on July 9th attended the Mang Thit district’s 12th Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, in the southern province of Vinh Long.

This is the district level unit chosen to organize model Party Congress in which the Secretary of the district Party Committee was elected directly.
In the past term (2015 - 2020), the district Party Committee has united to gain important achievements in diverse areas. Notably, the political system has been continuously reinforced; Party leadership capacity and combativeness has been heightened; and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style has seen positive changes.
Over 860 families have escaped poverty, reducing the household poverty rate from 2.49% in 2015 to 0.89%, while the current income per capita has increased to VND40 million, an increase of 15 times compared to 2015.
The industrial and handicraft structure has been increased with an value of over VND11 trillion; the total value of agricultural and fishery production is over VND12 trillion; total retail sales of goods and services for social consumption reached over VND12.3 trillion.
There are currently 2,550 businesses and domestic traders in the district, registering a capital of over VND442.8 billion, creating jobs for over 10,000 laborers.
In the next term of 2020 - 2025, the district puts forth 17 criteria in all socio-economic and environmental development, the building of new style rural and urban areas, and the building of political system.
The district Party Committee will mobilize all resources, potentials and advantages to promote rapid and sustainable development; combine economic, cultural and social development with environmental protection, while reinforcing defence and security as well as political stability./.
