Rank of Ambassador bestowed upon diplomats

President Tran Dai Quang presented decisions granting the rank of Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to five diplomats at a ceremony in Hanoi on November 3rd.

The rank of level-2 Ambassador, the highest diplomatic rank of Vietnam, was bestowed upon Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung.

Meanwhile, the rank of level-1 Ambassador was conferred on Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Le Anh, Consul General to Sihanoukville (Cambodia) Nguyen The Cuong, and former Ambassador to Poland Pham Kien Thiet.


Speaking at the ceremony, President Quang emphasised that the rank of Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is the noblest diplomatic rank of the Party and State, recognising diplomats’ contributions to national development and protection in general and external affairs in particular while showing the Party, State and people’s trust in and support for the ambassadors.

Over the three decades of Doi moi (reform), the external affairs have significantly contributed to the country’s achievements and helped to ensure favourable foreign relations for Vietnam’s development, thus promoting the country’s prestige and position in the international arena, he said

The President asked the ambassadors to continue doing their best to fulfill assigned tasks, particularly helping to maintain peace and stable environment and capitalise on favourable conditions and external resources to boost national development.

On behalf of the diplomats, Deputy Foreign Minister, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung pledged that they will make concerted efforts in their capacity to contribute to national development and protection./.
