Russian President Putin to attend APEC Summit in Vietnam

The Russian Embassy in Vietnam has announced that President Vladimir Putin will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Summit in Da Nang at the invitation of Vietnamese leaders.

At the regular press meeting on October 12th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang confirmed APEC economies’ leaders would attend the event in November in Da Nang.

In the framework of the APEC Summit 2017, there will be a number of official visits by economies’ leaders to Vietnam.

The six-day APEC Summit will open with other world leaders, including China’s Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump, expected to attend.

Established in 1989, APEC comprises 21 economies, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US and Vietnam.

Vietnam joined APEC in 1998, and hosted APEC in 2006.

The preparations have been made to welcome leaders and delegations from the 21 APEC member economies, along with nearly 10,000 other delegates, international journalists and world-leading entrepreneurs./.
