The Vietnam Military-run Telecommunications Group (Viettel) and Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) are urgently preparing the best telecommunications and information technology infrastructure for APEC 2017.

Viettel has been selected by the APEC National Committee to deploy the peripheral network infrastructure to five event venues, ensuring 1 + 1 transmission contingency, ensuring Internet, television, telephone, mobile phone services; providing network equipment such as LAN and wifi; information technology equipment such as television, computer, telephone and printer to the press center; and 4G SIM cards for participants attending the event.
"In order to ensure the best service for APEC, Viettel will ask personnel to be on duty 24/24 at the venue," a representative of Viettel said.
According to the representative, Viettel started preparations for APEC 2017 in May with the deployment of 44 underground transmission cable lines, nearly 100km of optical cable. It is expected that the preparation, evaluation of information security, the capacity of prevention and operation of the whole system will be completed before October 27th.
Meanwhile, VNPT said it is urgently deploying survey and installation of telecommunications service infrastructure to best serve the needs of communications at the APEC Finance Ministerial Meeting 2017.
Specifically, VNPT is carrying out optical cable testing, building network nodes, two direct domestic Internet lines at 500Mbps and 50Mbps international; four fiber optic lines, nine copper cables, as well as asking technical staff on duty to deploy and operate the system during the event from October 17th to 21st in Hoi An, Quang Nam province./.
