Best staff chosen to serve APEC

With 21 member economies to attend the event, AELW 2017 is not only considered an honour, but also a responsibility to prove Vietnam's worthy position. Determining the great political responsibility, absolutely ensuring security, safety and high esteem, from February 2017, Vietnam Airlines Ground Services Company Limited (VIAGS) has deployed plans to improve human and material resources to serve APEC 2017 in Da Nang.

Specifically, VIAGS in Da Nang will increase capacity to serve APEC 2017 from 160 flights per day to 180 flights per day. At peak times such as 8am-10am, 12pm-2pm, 6pm-7pm, VIAGS will serve 11 aircrafts to and from the Da Nang International Airport per hour.

In order to ensure the availability of resources during the AELW 2017, VIAGS has promoted recruitment, training and staff appointment from VIAGS Noi Bai (Hanoi) and VIAGS Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City) to strengthen for VIAGS Da Nang. The appointed staff must meet the criteria of appearance, English proficiency, knowledge to serve special aircraft and best service capacity.

In order to improve service quality, VIAGS continuously organizes English training courses for the direct service departments and builds checklists online for quick, timely and professional deployment in the service.

In addition, the company has also implemented plans to ensure security and safety, such as working with Da Nang police and border police to verify staff profiles to ensure internal security work; and coordinating with the Da Nang International Airport to manoeuvre to prevent fire and network security problems.

Plans are ready

To meet the increasing demand of passengers during this period, Vietnam Airlines will increase by nearly 110 flights, equivalent to more than 20,000 seats, air traffic on the routes among Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, raising the total seats supplied to nearly 400,000 seats. Of that, the Hanoi - Da Nang route adds 64 flights, reaching an average of more than 4,800 seats per day; Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route increases by 44 flights, reaching an average of nearly 6,000 seats per day.

Especially, on peak days (November 6th - 11th), the Carrier operates more than 50 flights per day among Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city and Da Nang, averaging 30 minutes per flight to or from Da Nang.

At the Da Nang International Airport, it has moved all international flights to and from T2 Terminal, which was inaugurated in May 2017. At the same time, 22 fixed check-in counters have been launched at the second floor, left wing of the terminal, including three counters (20, 21 and 22) for business-class guests. The company will also expand counters at the right wing when necessary, depending on the actual situation.

With this plan, the Vietnam National Flag Carrier will not only meet the increasing demand for travel during the APEC 2017, but also ensure flight connections and travel of APEC officials, delegates and tourists arriving Da Nang to participate in activities on the sidelines, as well as personnel preparing for the event from before.

"As a national airline which has always accompanied major events of the country, Vietnam Airlines is proud to be a sponsor and special partner to service APEC, while ensuring the normal operation, bringing professional and four-star services," said Mr. Duong Tri Thanh, General Director of Vietnam Airlines.

As leaders of the world's largest economies go to Da Nang, the first images at the airport will be the face of a nation. Recognizing that, Vietnam Airlines has prepared and made great efforts, from staff, aircraft fleet and ground service, to provide the best quality of services for AELW 2017, worthy to be a 4-star airline./.
