Volunteers selected for APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017

The Da Nang city Department of Foreign Affairs has selected 260 volunteers, aged 18 to 25, for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) 2017, which will take place from November 5th to 11th.

900 candidates were short-listed from a total of 2,000 applicants in the preliminary round. The selected volunteers will undergo training courses organized by the APEC National Secretariat later this month.

Some 260 qualified volunteers were selected to help out at activities chaired by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry within the framework of the event.

They will be provided with training by the APEC National Committee in mid-October.

Established in 1989, APEC comprises 21 economies, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US and Vietnam.

Vietnam joined APEC in 1998, and hosted APEC in 2006.

The preparations have been made to welcome leaders and delegations from 21 APEC member economies, along with nearly 10,000 other delegates, international journalists and world-leading entrepreneurs./.
