Model of planting fruit trees brings benefits for many farmers in Bac Ninh

As one of the top localities in terms of industrial production value, with the motto “Effectively exploiting potential associated with raising people’s incomes”, over the past years, Bac Ninh has paid attention to promoting the role of the agriculture and fishery expansion system in combination with agricultural restructuring.

Technological transfer was applied to many high yielding and high quality plant and animal varieties, contributing to creating a new wave of agricultural production. Aiming to speed up the shift of production structure, agricultural worker structure, and improve the production skill of farmers, since 2015, Bac Ninh has organized more than 100 training courses with 6,000-7,000 participants.

In addition, the agriculture and fishery expansion system also focused on building many trial and demonstration models to bring high productivity and economic efficiency for each locality. Annually, hundreds of high quality models, livestock breeds and plants are tested, selected and multiplied; contributing to raising farmers’ livelihood and boosting agricultural production.

Specifically, in the field of cultivation, the locality built and expanded many models of new plant varieties such as high-yield carrot, turnip, new rice like Kinh Bac Fragrance, LC-25, TBR225, HDT8, and Thai Xuyen 111. In the field of livestock, a number of models and projects have been realized on a large scale, such as supporting livestock and poultry breeding towards biological safety; preserving and developing Ho chicken, models of raising wild pigs in Que Vo; Thuan Thanh districts and Bac Ninh city; model of Dong Tao hybrid chicken in Gia Binh, Luong Tai, Yen Phong, and Tien Du; model of biogas underground to reduce environmental pollution.

Over the past few years, the aquaculture sector has made strong changes on the basis of promoting the positive role in agricultural expansion activities. The implementation and replication of freshwater fish farming models have motivated the province’s aquatic sector.

Currently, the raising of white butterfish and giant freshwater prawn shows positive results, bring high economic efficiency and opens a new direction in the shift of agricultural economy structure. According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2017, Bac Ninh had more than 5,250 hectares of aquaculture, yielding over 37,500 tons, a 2.7% rise from the previous year; grossing a revenue of nearly VND1.2 trillion.

Typically, models of aquaculture for high economic efficiency are raising giant freshwater prawn in Que Vo; raising black carp with commercial feed in Tien Du, Thuan Thanh, and Luong Tai; and raising industrial frogs in Yen Phong, Luong Tai and Que Vo.

Former Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Tran Thi Hoa said that with the positive achievements, agriculture and fishery expansion activities in Bac Ninh significantly contributed to the shift of agricultural production towards adapting climate change, increasing added value and raising income of farmers.

In 2018, Bac Ninh attaches importance to missions of agricultural restructuring, building and expanding production chain models associated with enterprises and promoting the advantages of each locality. It pays more attention to improving the effectiveness of market information, further developing agricultural expansion systems at all levels and ensuring good performance of the role of supporting and serving production./.
