The book also features more than 100 illustrations and 22 writings focusing on folklore linguistics, theatrical performances, customs and beliefs, traditional festivals, and traditional handicraft trade villages; and talks with artisans and artists. All the heritage is still “alive” - performed regularly in the community.

As many as 400 books are available in English/Vietnamese, and will soon come to libraries, research institutes and schools.

It is part of a project on Vietnam’s intangible cultural heritage by the International Research Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (ICHCAP), under the auspices of UNESCO. This is the first time ICHCAP has sponsored a book on the intangible cultural heritage of a city./.
