Art performance highlights protection of sea and island sovereignty

(CPV) - An art performance entitled “Spratly islands Spring” was held on evening March 9th to increase people’s awareness on the protection of sea and island sovereignty, and express the affection of the mainland towards soldiers who are protecting the nation’s sea and island sovereignty.

The program, which was broadcast live on the Television of the National Assembly, provided the audience with unique art works on Spratly islands and national patriotism performed by famous artists and singers. Additionally, videos introducing the lives of cadres and soldiers who are protecting the nation’s sea and island sovereignty, and islanders’ increasingly improved material and spiritual lives, were also included in the program.

Jointly organized by Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper, the Veterans’ Association of the Party Central Committee Commission for Popularization and Education, and the High Command of the Navy Force, the annually program has received great care from Party and State leaders as well as practical assistance from organizations and individuals over the past 6 years, which contributes to encouraging the will and spirit of cadres and soldiers working at sea and island regions; and fosters the determination of protecting the national sovereignty.

The 90-minute program this year was attended by Bui The Duc, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee Commission for Popularization and Education; Pham Manh Hung, Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Admiral Dang Minh Hai, Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy Force; Dr. Tran Doan Tien, Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper’s Editor-in-chief; and representatives from central and Hanoi departments and agencies.

Since 2013, under the program, Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper has worked with organizations and individuals to present 5 boats worth VND17.5 billion to the navy forces, dozens of payments of gratitude houses, hundreds of savings books, and many valuable presents.

During the 2018 lunar New Year festival, the newspaper coordinated with the Veterans’ Association of the Party Central Committee Commission for Popularization and Education, and the High Command of the Navy Force, the Military Bank, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, and the Ho Chi Minh Museum Construction Company, to provide savings books and houses to beneficiaries’ families, disadvantaged cadres and soldiers.

The organising committee also presented 80 savings books worth VND400 million and two houses to disadvantaged soldiers’ families, and called on greater assistance from communities for building up stronger Spratly islands.
