It is part of the existing 3.9km Hanoi ceramic road, which was recognised as the world’s largest mural painting in 2010.

Addressing the event, painter Nguyen Thu Thuy, who masterminded the Hanoi ceramic mural project, said that she was moved when artist Gonzalez was invited to design this part of the mural by Ambassador of Chile to Vietnam Claudio De Negri.

The 10 metres in length and 2.3 metres in height ceramic mosaic mural features the friendship between Vietnam and Chile, and the painter Alejandro Gonzalez's vision of the beautiful and progressive life that Communist countries are striving to attain.

Mono Gonzalez was born in 1947 in Curico city of Chile. He is well known for his large murals, which have decorated public spaces and buildings in Chile and several other countries, including Argentina, Ecuador, Peru and Cuba, as well as Canada, France, Italy and the Netherlands, along with Portugal, Ukraine, China, and now Vietnam.

During his ten days in Hanoi, the painter will have an exchange with Hanoian painters, a talk with students from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts and draw a wall painting with artists from Tan Hanoi Arts Company./.
