Co Tu cultural day in central Da Nang city

On March 29th, Da Nang Museum opened the second exhibition on Co Tu ethnic traditional culture at Da Nang Museum with the participation of Co Tu people in Da Nang, Thua Thien – Hue and Quang Nam.

Visitors and students to the museum had an opportunity to watch dances of the Co Tu ethnic minority group in Hoa Phu commune, Hoa Van district; and musical instrument performances and special singing of Co Tu ethnic people in Thua Thien – Hue.

Traditional handicrafts, ranging from textile, bamboo and rattan products, tube wine to Co Tu’s agricultural products and cuisine, were introduced. Gong performances were also part of the opening ceremony.

The festival aims to honour the traditional cultural values of Co Tu ethnic people; create an opportunity for Co Tu ethnic people to have cultural exchange to preserve and promote traditional culture values; and create an atmosphere for visitors to discover and experience traditional culture.

The Co Tu are Vietnam’s smallest ethnic minority group, with 70,000 people. They live in the Truong Son Mountain range in Da Nang, and provinces of Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue.
