The six volume dictionary set, compiled by late Czech linguistic professor Ivo Vasiljev and co-author Nguyen Quyet Tien, was completed after 12 years. It is the continuation of the first Czech-Vietnamese dictionary published in the 1960s.

Considered a bilingual encyclopaedia, it covers a wide range of subjects, including society, culture, history, biography and geography.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Czech Republic Ho Minh Tuan appreciated the efforts made by the authors and co-workers.

He also expressed his gratitude for support from organisations and people of Vietnam and the Czech Republic, hoping to welcome a Vietnamese-Czech dictionary in the future./.
