The Culture and Trade Exchange Program among ASEAN members 2018 was launched by the Ho Chi Minh city People's Committee on April 18th on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification (April 30th) and the 3rd founding anniversary of the ASEAN Economic Community.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Le Thanh Liem, Standing Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People's Committee, emphasized the significance of the program in order to further strengthen the friendship between ASEAN and its international partners, as well as contribute to the promotion of trade, investment, tourism, education and culture between Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh city, and other countries, especially ASEAN member countries.
The program aims to confirm the determination and effort of the city to join hands with ASEAN members in building a unified, peaceful, stable and prosperous ASEAN community.
On behalf of Consul Generals of ASEAN countries, Ms. Leow Siu Lin, Consul General of Singapore, said that as the ASEAN President this year, Singapore continues to boost the strength and develop the creativity of intra-ASEAN bloc, including establishment of an ASEAN intelligent smart city network to connect people, economies, ideas and solutions within ASEAN to enhance cooperation against threats such as terrorism, cybersecurity, trans-national crimes and climate change.
The program will last until April 22nd at September 23rd Park with more than 100 trade and food stalls of ASEAN countries and other cultural exchange activities such as book and cultural publication exchange, art performance, folk games and introduction of traditional trade villages of ASEAN countries./.
