Culture week introduces Vietnam’s land and people to Cambodians

The Vietnamese Cultural Week in Cambodia kicked off on August 26th at Chaktomuk hall, Phnom Penh.

In her opening speech, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien spoke highly of the longstanding relations between Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as the close bilateral ties in the fields of culture and the arts.

Taking place in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap until August 30th, the event is designed to provide an opportunity for Cambodians to have a closer look at Vietnamese land, culture and people, thus consolidating and developing the friendship between the two peoples.

It is among a series of activities held under a cooperative plan on culture and the arts between the two countries, she said.

Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeung Sakona said that the event would contribute to deepening the Vietnam-Cambodia relationships.

She expressed her thanks to Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for its support in providing arts training and performing facilities for the Cambodian side.

Delegates at the opening ceremony enjoyed performances imbued with Vietnamese national cultural identities as well as songs and dances praising Vietnam-Cambodia friendship./.
