Diverse cultural activities on the occasion of Tet

(CPV) - On the occasion of lunar New Year (Tet) 2018, diverse cultural activities have taken place nationwide, contributing to preserving and promoting Vietnamese advanced culture imbued with national identities.

In Hanoi capital, 31 fireworks shows will put off to welcome Tet.

Accordingly, there will be nine high-range shows and 22 low-range displays of fireworks. High-range fireworks displays will be set off at at nine venues in Hoan Kiem lake (Hoan Kiem district), southeast Ngoc Khanh lake (Ba Dinh district), Hoang Cau lake (Dong Da district), Thong Nhat park (Hai Ba Trung district), Lac Long Quan garden (Tay Ho district), Van Quan lake (Ha Dong district), My Dinh National Sports Complex (Nam Tu Liem district), Vinhomes Riverside Ecological Urban Area (Long Bien district) and Son Tay ancient citadel (Son Tay town).

Meanwhile, low-range fireworks will be put off in 22 districts. The fireworks shows will last some 15 minutes.

A traditional Tet space, featuring a wide variety of traditional cultural activities, is underway in Hanoi’s Old Quarter from February 2nd to 20th, promising to offer visitors an opportunity to enjoy a traditional taste of Tet.

There is an exhibition of Kim Hoang folk paintings at Kim Ngan Temple at No.42-44 Hang Bac street. The art of Kim Hoang paintings has been re-established recently and will be showcased for the first time after decades of discontinuity due to most of the wood-blocks being lost in a flood in the early 20th century.

In addition, 100 stone dogs and 60 paintings on the dog in Vietnamese life are on display at the Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Centre at No. 50 Dao Duy Tu street. Examples of the Tet celebrations of a typical Hanoian family of years past are being recreated at the Heritage House at No.87 Ma May street.

Additionally, there will be performances of traditional musical shows from February 17th to 20th.

The film week to celebrate the 88th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Tet 2018 is taking place nationwide from February 3rd to 18th. Accordingly, various films such as “Phep mau tinh yeu” and “Cao hon bau troi”, videos on mountainous areas produced by the Center for Ethnic, Mountainous and Island Film Production, and special subjects on following and studying President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and lifestyle have be screened.

In Ho Chi Minh (HCM) city, fireworks will be let off on lunar New Year in Thu Thiem Cu Chi, Can Gio, Nha Be districts and District 2, District 11 and from 00h00 to 00h15 on the New Year Eve.

HCM city theatres promise a variety of new and interesting shows this Tet to suit audiences of varying musical and dramatic tastes. 

For comedy fans, the The Gioi Tre (World of Youth) Drama Club on Cong Quynh street in District 1 will offer a special series of three comedies each night until February 25th. Bao Gio Me Lay Chong (When Mom Gets Married), Tinh Ky Nu (Love Story) and Su Gia Thien Duong (Messenger from Heaven) has attracted young actors from the HCM city University of Theatre and Cinematography. The plays focus on messages about love and youth.

Hoi An ancient city, the central province of Quang Nam, will be open free for visitors on Tet from February 15th to 17th. Accordingly, diverse cultural and entertainment activities will be held such as art performances at 23h00 on February 15th and fireworks shows at midnight on February 16th. Fireworks performance will also be held in the city on the New Year Eve.

Hue heritage sites in the central province of Thua Thien - Hue will also open free for visitors on Tet from February 16th to 18th. Diverse cultural activities welcoming Tet will be organized by Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

Specifically, on the first day, there will be dragon performances, folk games, calligraphy and artistic performances at Thai Hoa palace, and music programs at The Mieu, an ancestral temple to Vietnam's emperors in the Imperial City./.
