Every artist and cultural and artistic activist must be a disseminator in building a cultural city and civilized lifestyle. Each artist must be an “ambassador” in the preservation of the beauty of culture, morality, tradition and have a civilized, modern and sentimental lifestyle.

Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan has attended the briefing meeting of the Ho Chi Minh City Council of Theory and Criticism on Literature and  Arts for the third quarter of 2019.

According to the council, there are nine Union of Literature and Arts Associations with 5,136 members. This is a powerful force to develop the city's literary and artistic activities.

Over the past three years, the Council has made public nearly 40 issues. Over the past nine months, the Standing Board of the Council has established four subcommittees to promote activities and enhance the initiative of each member in monitoring, grasping the situation and detecting problems in the field of literature and arts; promptly reflecting and giving consultancy to city leaders to direct cultural activities in the city.

On the occasion of New Year 2020 and lunar new year, the city is preparing a variety of cultural and artistic activities such as a festival to welcome the new year, spring flower festival, Tet cake festival and cultural activities at the book street.

The Politburo member Nguyen Thien Nhan appreciated the council over the past years and asked the council to be more active in organizing literacy activities.

Mr. Nhan said that the local people love Don ca tai tu and Cai luong arts, which are imbued with southern characteristics. Therefore, it should be built as a festival to attract more local people and visitors.  He suggested that members should propose practical solutions and specific measures to gradually improve the city's cultural environment and enhance education to build a civilized city./.
