The Cultural and Scientific Activities Center under the Temple of Literature will coordinate with the National Archives Center IV (in Da Lat city) to organize an exhibition on the country’s names, capitals through Nguyen Dynasty woodblocks - world cultural heritage.

These exhibits will help visitors understand the origins and significance of the States and the Capital of Vietnam through the historical periods inscribed in the woodblocks.

Woodblocks are special and rare documents of Vietnam and the world, engraved with Chinese and Nom characters on wood to be printed into books, which were popularly used in feudal times in Vietnam and were recognized as World Documentary Heritage by UNESCO on July 31st, 2009. This legacy is being preserved at the National Archives Center IV under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The woodblocks of the Nguyen Dynasty helped to record official literature and history as well as classic and historical books. Apart from their historical value, they also have artistic and technical merit as they mark the development of the woodblock carving and printing profession in Vietnam.

The exhibition will run until March 25th./.
