Hanoi celebrates Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day

The Hanoi city Department of Culture and Sports on November 23rd held a meeting to celebrate the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day.

Addressing the event, Director of the city Department of Culture and Sports To Van Dong said that Hanoi is the place with the largest amount of intangible and tangible cultural heritages in Vietnam. Over the past years, it has focused on management, preservation and promotion of these values, such as the promulgation of resolutions, plans and programmes related to preserving and promoting cultural heritage.

Statistics showed that there are 5,922 relics in the capital, including one world cultural heritage, 11 special national heritages, 1,185 national heritages and 1,261 city heritages. Many of them have become tourism destinations, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and popularizing the image of Hanoi to international friends.

In addition, thousands of valuable objects and collections of objects have been preserved and displayed at relic sites and museums.

The city also completed a project on the investigation and preservation of intangible cultural heritage, and made lists and distribution maps for 1,793 relics.

On this occasion, the Department honored people who have made great contribution to the city cultural heritage, and published a book on Thang Long - Hanoi national treasures./.
