Heritage of Future Past project marks 25th anniversary of British Council in Vietnam

(CPV) - Heritage of Future Past - a cultural heritage for inclusive growth project, will mark the 25th anniversary of the British Council’s work promoting closer cultural relations between the United Kingdom and Vietnam (1993-2018).

Running from 2018 to 2020 with a total finance of GBP500,000, it is delivered through the British Council’s Culture and Development initiative.

The project will engage with the music and film heritage of Vietnam, with particular focus on aspects that are under threat, disappearing, or under-represented.

A more dynamic understanding and enjoyment, as well as use of, heritage assets in everyday life in the communities and in artistic, curatorial, and educational practices will be promoted.

Besides, the project will engage with a wide range of partners, including cultural heritage agencies, institutions of the central and local government, arts and cultural organizations, and the private sector, focusing on research, documentation, conservation, training and capacity building (including oral teaching techniques), experimentation and innovation, advocacy and education (including policy and community dialogues), and the re-imagination and revitalization of cultural heritage assets in contemporary practices.

The launching event featuring two performances that capture a remarkable essence of the music heritage of Vietnam took place on April 1st at Hanoi Opera House, No. 1 Trang Tien street, while the same section is scheduled to happen at Soul Academy, No.214 Pasteur, district 3, Ho Chi Minh city at 18h30 - 21h00 on April 6th./.
