Impressive “Vietnam - Japan Cultural Space” program

The “Vietnam - Japan Cultural Space” program which has been operated in the ancient city of Hoi An over the past year is a highly appreciated cultural tourism product.

A ceremony reviewing a year of the program operation has been held in Hội An. Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe cụt the ribbon to inaugurate the program on the occasion of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in November 11th, 2017.

Covering the entire Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street and the area around the Bridge pagoda, the space is a frequent place where many daytime and night activities take place such as the displaying of historical data, archaeological findings on trade, relationship between Japanese streets in Hoi An in the 17th century; performances of Japanese tea drinking; Japanese and Vietnamese games for children; performances of Japanese and Vietnamese folk songs by Vietnamese traditional musical instruments; shows of Japanese and Vietnamese calligraphy; training course of Vietnamese folk singing; tours on Japanese imprints; introduction of Japanese and Vietnamese traditional handicrafts; and performance of Japanese clothes every Monday night.

Together with the Hoi An - Japan annual cultural exchange event, the “Vietnam - Japan Cultural Space” program has also contributed to boosting the number of Japanese tourists to Hoi An, helping to promoting relation between Hoi An and Japan in particular and between Vietnam and Japan in general.
