January activities at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism

Diverse activities under the theme “Spring Reunion” will take place at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, Son Tay town, Hanoi, from January 1st to 31st.

The activities will draw the participation of nearly 100 people from 14 ethnic minority groups, including Mong from Ha Giang, Kho Mu from Dien Bien, Thai from Son La, Tay from Thai Nguyen, Muong from Hoa Binh, Dao from Hanoi, Ta Oi and Co Tu from Thua Thien-Hue, Xo Dong from Kon Tum, Raglai from Ninh Thuan, E De from Dak Lak, Ba Na from Gia Lai, Khmer from Soc Trang and artists from Vietnam Tuong Theatre and Vietnam Cheo Theatre. 

Especially, from January 10th, the village will welcome Nung ethnic group from the northern mountainous province of Lang Son to introduce their culture.

Rituals, customs and activities to welcome spring and lunar New Year will be introduced, contributing to popularizing values and identities of ethnic traditional culture and promoting exchanges among ethnic groups.

On this occasion, visitors also experience traditional foods of ethnic groups, tea picking, weaving, creation of musical instruments, traditional handicraft making, folk forms of arts such as dances, folk singing and gong performance. There are folk games such as walking on stilts and swing./.
