Japanese festival “Ake Ome” welcomes New Year 2014

(CPV) – On December 29, the Japanese festival “Ake Ome!” welcoming the New Year 2014 was held at the Giang Vo Exhibition Centre in Hanoi.

The festival is a highlight to end the 40th anniversary of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic ties.Ake Ome” is the shortened form of “Akemashite Omedetou” in Japanese, which means Happy New year.

According to the representative of the organising board, the Japanese cultural festival aims to create a good space for the youth to learn more about Japanese culture at the New Year’s Eve 2014. Moreover this is an opportunity to promote friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Japan.

40 booths at the festival displayed Japanese food and drink specialties. Besides, Japanese handmade products such as tradition Kadomastu decorations, carp lanterns and Hamaya bows were also introduced to visitors.

The Daruma’ doll booth is the remarkable point of this festival. Painting dolls’ eyes is a typical activity to welcome the New Year in Japan. The visitors to the Ake Ome festival this year had the chance to paint Daruman doll’s eyes for good fortune in the New Year, and participate in many other typical activities.

The festival attracted crowds of people, especially young people./.
