Lao students celebrate Bunpimay Festival in Hue

About 500 Laos students, who are studying in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, have welcomed Bunimay Festival, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere.

The event also encouraged more motivation for students to study and tighten the friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

The celebration was held by the Hue University and Hue College of Education with various traditional rituals such as splashing water to pray for prosperity in the new year, and tying strings around a person’s wrist to wish for good health, luck and success.

Bunpimay Festival is observed from April 13th to 16th annually to pray for good weather, health, abundant harvests and prosperity.

Implementing training programmes for Lao students, so far, universities and colleges in Thua Thien – Hue province have trained about 1,200 Laotians, 500 of which graduated and were arranged jobs.

Every year, Thua Thien Hue province also grants scholarships on Vietnamese language and further study at colleges and universities to the provinces of Salavan, Sekong, Champasak, Khammuon and Savannakhet of Laos.

On this occasion, the Consulate General of Laos People's Democratic Republic in Da Nang City awarded 15 certificates of merit to Laotian students with high achievements in study./.
