Mong ethnic forging performed in Hanoi

Mong ethnic people from the northwestern province of Dien Bien have performed forging at the traditional market at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, Son Tay town, Hanoi, to welcome New Year 2019.

Traditional forging of has existed for many generations to make farming tools. The products are created entirely by hand, from cutting iron, shaping, hammering and making handles.

At the market, people also experienced the cultural features of the ethnic groups Lao, Khang, Thai, Tay and Kho Mu. On this occasion, an event titled Year-End Gathering Meal showcasing the cuisines of ethnic groups residing in the northern mountainous region was held. The Khang ethnic group from Son La province also replicated their Wine Festival to wish for favourable weather and good health. Folk art was also performed at the site together with folk games.
