More 27 artefacts recognised as Vietnam national treasures

Prime Minister has issued the Decision No.88/QD-TTg dated January 15th, on the recognition of 27 artifacts and groups of artifacts for the 8th time in 2019.

They include a collection of stone items dating back to about 3,500 years ago now kept at the Hung Vuong Museum in Phu Tho province; and Quang Chinh and Tra Loc bronze drums from Dong Son culture nearly 2,500 years ago, which are being stored by the museums of Quang Ninh and Quang Tri provinces, respectively.

Also in the list are several items dating from the Oc Eo culture in the 4th-6th century: the Nhon Thanh Linga – Yoni wooden statue in Can Tho city’s museum, the Giong Xoai wooden Buddhist statue and the Khanh Binh stone Buddhist statue in An Giang province’s museum.

A stone lion statute at Huong Lang pagoda in Hung Yen province, a pair of stone lion statues at Ba Tam pagoda in Hanoi, and several steles in Hung Yen, Cao Bang, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, Bac Ninh provinces, were also recognized this time, to name just a few.

The decision also states that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committees where the national treasures were found, and the heads of provincial management boards will be responsible for managing the treasures in accordance with the cultural heritage laws./.
