Ho Chi Minh City needs to invest more to convert the Southern Women’s Museum into a tourist attraction, said member of Politburo and Chairwoman of Vietnam’s National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan during the recent working visit to the museum.

Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Ms. Ngo Thi Hue, wife of late General Secretary of Nguyen Van Linh

At the campus of the museum, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan wished health to Mrs. Ngo Thi Hue, wife of late General Secretary of Nguyen Van Linh. Mrs. Hue was one of the first ten female deputies of Vietnam’s National Assembly in 1946.

More than 100 objects and photos on Vietnamese Ao dai are shown. In particular, there was the Ao dai worn by Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, the first Chairwoman of Vietnam’s National Assembly, at the ceremony to take her oath of office and pledge absolute allegiance to the motherland, people and constitution of Vietnam and utmost efforts to well-perform the tasks entrusted by the Party, State and people.

She stressed that southern women have set their heart on the museum which retain women’s good tradition and popularize it to the next generation. Accordingly, city authorities should invest more to expand the exhibition section and keep valuable exhibits, aiming to turn it into a better tourist attraction for local and foreign visitors./.
