Nearly 1,000 artisans and people to participate in Vietnam - Laos border ethnic culture festival

From May 17th to 19th, the cultural exchange, sports and tourism festival of ethnic minority groups living in the Vietnam - Laos border area, central region and the Central Highlands, will take place in A Luoi district, the central province of Thua Thien - Hue.

The event will be co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Thua Thien - Hue province with the participation of nearly 1,000 artisans and people from ethnic groups from five Vietnamese provinces and four Laotian provinces.

It aims to conserve, promote and honor the cultural heritage values of Vietnam in general and ethnic minority groups living in the Vietnam - Lao shared border area in particular; facilitate people to learn, exchange, broaden knowledge, promote the fine tradition and community engagement of Vietnamese ethnic groups as well as regional ethnic minority groups; and arouse the pride and fine tradition of each ethnic group.

Diverse cultural activities, festivals, traditional sport events, photo exhibitions on culture, tourism, people and socio-economic achievements; introduction of localities' culture and tourism products, and special dishes; performances of brocade weaving and traditional cultural rites of ethnic groups in A Luoi district will be held during the festival.

The opening ceremony will begin at 20h00 on May 17th at A Luoi district Center Square and be broadcast live on Thua Thien - Hue Radio and Television. The closing ceremony will be organized at 20h00 on May 19th./.
