Photo exhibition highlights 45-year development of President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum

A photo exhibition was organized by the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Guard High Command and Management Board in Hanoi on August 27 in order to introduce the 45-year development of the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to visitors.

Through 180 photos displayed at the exhibition, visitors will better understand the construction of theo mausoleum, the protection and maintenance of President Ho Chi Minh’s body, and the operation of the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Guard High Command and Management Board.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Colonel Pham Van Hieu, Deputy Political Commissar of the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Guard High Command, said the exhibition gives insight into the sound, timely leadership of the Vietnamese Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defence, as well as the friendship and wholehearted support of the Government and experts of the former Soviet Union (now Russia), in maintaining Uncle Ho’s body and building the mausoleum.

The exhibition is scheduled to last until September 10.

President Ho Chi Minh passed away on September 2, 1969. In the following days, his body was embalmed. His embalmed body is placed in a glass coffin inside the granite mausoleum, which was modeled after Lenin’s tomb in Moscow.

Over the past years, the President Ho Chi Minh mausoleum has become an important landmark of the capital city and is integral to the political and social history of Vietnam./.
