Preserving and promoting ethnic traditional costumes in Khanh Hoa province

The central Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee has issued a plan on the implementation of the project to preserve and promote ethnic traditional costumes in Vietnam in the 2020-2030 period in the province.

The plan aims to effectively implement Decision 209/QD-BVHTTDL on January 18th, 2019, of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism approving the Project "Preserving and promoting traditional costumes of Vietnamese ethnic minorities in the current period" in the province.

According to the plan, in the 2020-2025 period, the list of intangible cultural heritages on traditional costumes of ethnic minorities in the province will be made; a model of preserving and promoting Raglai traditional costumes in Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh districts will be built; and traditional costumes will be worn at ethnic minority boarding schools.

The project will strengthen the promotion of intangible cultural heritage of ethnic minority traditional costumes through cultural festivals, contests and art performances; coordinate with units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to prepare documents on intangible cultural heritage on traditional crafts, embroidery arts and decorative motifs related to ethnic traditional costumes to propose for the national intangible cultural heritage list; honour excellent artisans and people's artisans in handicrafts related to traditional costumes; and provide training on weaving skills of ethnic traditional costumes.

In the 2026-2030 period, the project will help preserve and promote Raglai traditional costumes in Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh districts; continue the use of traditional costumes at ethnic minority boarding schools; promote dissemination and promotion of traditional ethnic minority costumes through cultural festivals, festivals, contests and art performances; and organize a festival of performing traditional costumes of ethnic minorities in Khanh Hoa province./.
