Preserving ethnic culture on M’nong plateau

The “Spring on the M’nong plateau” festival took place on February 22nd in Gia Nghia town, the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong, attracting hundreds of artisans, youth union members from districts, towns, mass organizations, armed forces, and people in the province.

The festival opened with a ceremony welcoming friends of the M’nong ethnic people, an important traditional festivity of M’nong ethnic group in particular and the Central Highlands provinces in general. The tradition reflects hospitality and respect for guests, thus teaching solidarity and awareness of protecting villages and preserving communal cultural identities.

The festivity to pray for the health of M’nong ethnic people was also held to pray that the gods help the community, family and individuals to avoid disasters, and to be lucky, healthy and peaceful in life.

In addition, diverse activities such as boat racing, brocade weaving performance, show on ethnic traditional clothes, ethnic traditional foods, gong performances and folk dances will be held during the three-day event./.
