Preserving traditional music heritage in Central Highlands and central Vietnam

It aimed to recognize and evaluate the preservation of the traditional music heritage of ethnic minority groups in the Central Highlands and central Vietnam; to survey and review results of the implementation of policies related to the preservation of traditional music heritages; and give solutions to the preservation in the present life.

The seminar drew the participation of cultural researchers, musicians and lecturers from culture and arts colleges in Thua Thien - Hue, Gia Lai, Lam Dong and Dak Lak provinces.

Participants discussed the appearances, characteristics, specialities, cultural and social values of the music; highlighted its role in daily life and presented solutions for its preservation.

Musician and researcher Vinh Phuc from Hue Academy of Music spoke about the teaching of Central Highlands gong cultural heritages, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Liem mentioned the music preservation and the implementation of preferential policies for artisans.

From Dak Lak provincial College of Culture and Arts, researcher Ly Van Linh Nie Kdampaid paid much attention to the building of a performance environment for the music./.
