Promoting value of Mu Cang Chai terraced fields association with tourism development

The common goal is to honor and preserve the value of the relic, renovate the landscape and environment in order to make the national relic into a special cultural and tourist product, contributing to promoting socio-economic development of Mu Cang Chai district and of Yen Bai province.

The province will preserve the status of the core area; continue to expand the terraced fields in areas whose conditions permit; make a plan Mu Cang Chai district area, including Mu Cang Chai terraced fields; make dossiers on the rice festival of Mong ethnic minority group for recognition as a national intangible cultural heritage; organize three traditional handicrafts in association with tourism promotion; conduct surveys, field trips and seminars to clarify the value of ancient rock in the district.

Five artistic groups will be established in communes in relic areas. Folk singing and dancing performances will be held for tourists. Films on the relics and traditional culture of Mong ethnic minority group in the province will be shot. Events to promote the value of the terraced fields and Mong ethnic cultural features in the provinces will take place at famous tourist destinations with a large number of tourists.

It is expected that in 2020, the number of tourists to Mu Cang Chai will be about 250,000 (an increase of 60.3% compared to 2019), of which foreign tourists will be about 50,000./.
