Rattan and bamboo craft village introduced in Hanoi

On April 14th, Phu Vinh rattan and bamboo craft village will be introduced at Kim Ngan Communal House on Hang Bac street, Hanoi Old Quarter.

The programme will be held by the Management Board for Hanoi Old Quarter, in coordination with artisans from Phu Vinh rattan and bamboo village, to honour and popularize traditional cultural values, helping the public understand more about one of the traditional handicrafts of the nation.

Phu Vinh rattan and bamboo craft village is known as one of the famous traditional villages, with a history of nearly 400 years. It was officially recognized as a traditional village in 2002. People in the village make handicraft products from rattan and bamboo, such as decorative items, plates, trays, flower vases, tables, chairs and curtains. With skillful hands, artisans from the village have made hundreds of different ways of weaving their products in combination with colours, creating highly aesthetic patterns on products.

Diverse activities such as decoration, installation, introduction of rattan and bamboo products from Phu Vinh village, and exchanges with artisan Nguyen Van Trung will be held.

The programme will run until May 7th./.
