Prof. Dr. Ahn Kyong Hwan has spent much time studying Vietnamese culture and translating “The Tale of Kieu” from Vietnamese into Korean language. The 253-page book, which is 13x19 cm, was published by Zmanz Publishing House in the Republic of Korea in 2015.

The present to the management board of the relic site aimed to supplement the collection of “The Tale of Kieu” in different languages and introduce domestic and foreign visitors to the relics and homeland of the great poet Nguyen Du.

“The Tale of Kieu” is an epic poem in Vietnamese, widely regarded as the most significant work of Vietnamese literature. It recounts the life, trials and tribulations of Thuy Kieu, a beautiful and talented young woman who had to sacrifice herself to save her family. Besides its editions in Nom script and Vietnamese, the poem has been translated into various languages worldwide such as Japanese, French, English and German, as well as Swedish, Polish and Romanian./.
