Receiving war keepsakes in Hanoi

The Vietnamese Women’s Museum has received keepsakes from soldiers and cadres who participated in revolutionary activities and national struggles.

They are the original translation of Dang Thuy Tram’s diary into English and an envelop with the autograph of US veteran Carl W. Greifzu, who kept the draft for 30 years and directly handed it to writer and journalist Senior Colonel Dang Vuong Hung; a translation draft by Ms. Tran Thi Kim Dung, veteran Carl’s Vietnamese wife in the1980s in US, including 102 page written by pencil on both sides of the paper with many edited letters. From this handwriting, Carl W. Greifzu edited and typed it into a completed document, and made hundreds of copies to send to US veterans to read. The typed document by Carl W. Greifzu is being kept at the War Remnants Museum.

Keepsakes also include the flower vase of Ms. Ha Thi Que made from the 2700th US plane in the sky of northern Vietnam. Ms. Que presented it to Mr. Hung’s father Dang Van Chan (1920-2003), who was one of the first four Party members in Yen The district Party Committee Cell, the northern province of Bac Giang; 20 letters of hero of People Armed Force, doctor Ta Lu to his lover and wife later, nurse Cao Thi Nhu from 1956 to 1972.

According to Nguyen Hai Van, deputy director of the Vietnamese Women's Museum, the keepsakes were presented at the time the museum is introducing characters Dang Thuy Tram, Ha Thi Que and wartime letters. The museum will supplement and enrich information about these precious objects./.
