Southern Khmer folk singing festival in Soc Trang province

The first Khmer ethnic folk singing festival of the Mekong Delta region is taking place in the southern province of Soc Trang from October 1st to 5th.

The event saw more than 300 contestants, mostly students, amateur artists and artisans from the region.

It is a chance for amateur singers to share and exchange experience to promote the traditional culture of Khmer people through folk songs and musical instruments; introduce folk artistic cultural activities associated with Khmer ethnic minority group; and find outstanding artisans, actors and actresses in mass cultural movement in provinces where Khmer ethnic people live.

There are 96 performances about the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, as well as positive changes in several localities, the love for homeland, traditional festivals, and family sentiments./.
