Thai ethnic cultural festival to take place in October

The event aims at preserving and promoting cultural identities of Thai ethnic group in the process of national integration and development.

Diverse activities such as mass performances, Thai ethnic costume show, introduction of rituals of cultural activities, exhibition on culture and tourism products, brocade weaving performance and exhibition on Thai ethnic culture, sports activities and folk games will be held during the festival. Especially, there will be a performance of Thai ethnic dance which has been recognised as national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Provinces with the largest number of Thai ethnic people including the host, Lai Chau, Son La, Yen Bai and Thanh Hoa are expected to take part in the event.

The opening ceremony will be broadcast live on the Television of Vietnam (VTV) and the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) in the evening of October 18th. An art troupe from Laos has been invited to perform at the festival./.
