Three Vietnamese films introduced in RoK

Three Vietnamese films, including Em chua 18 (Jailbait), Co Ba Sai Gon (The Tailor) and Co gai den tu hom qua (The Girl from Yesterday) are being introduced to Korean audiences in the framework of Vietnamese Film Days in RoK from July 18th to 19th.

The Jailbait directed by Le Thanh Son, won the Golden Lotus prize for best feature film at the 20th Vietnamese Film Festival. It is about the life of Linh Dan, a 17-year-old student from a bilingual school who discovers herself through her relationship with a handsome yoga instructor.

The Tailor by director Ngo Thanh Van is a 90-minute romantic comedy about Vietnamese women living in Sai Gon (Ho Chi Minh city now) as well as the history of the Ao dai.

The Girl from Yesterday directed by Phan Gia Nhat Linh is based on the novel of the same name by Nguyen Nhat Anh, a best-selling author in Ho Chi Minh city. It is a romantic comedy about teenager.

Two other documentary films, including “Phien cho vung cao” (Highland market) and “Mui Ne vung bien thuc” (Mui Ne - The Sea of Knowledge) are also shown to promote Vietnamese tourism, especially the potential of Ha Giang and Binh Thuan. These documentaries, each 12 minutes long, have English and French subtitles, and have been screened in many countries such as Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Cuba, Canada and Poland.

A part from film screenings, the Department of Cinema also dedicated a space to introduce the famous beautiful landscapes in Vietnam and also the special film scenes interested by foreign film-makers.

The event contributed to promoting Vietnamese cinema and culture to Korean people and strengthening the solidarity and friendship between the two countries in all fields./.
