Two Vietnamese movies compete at ASEAN Int'l Film Festival 2019

Two Vietnamese movies, Song Lang (The Tap Box) and Co Can Nha Nam Nghe Nang Mua (Like an Old House), attend the 4th ASEAN International Film Festival from April 25th to 27th, in Kuching City, Malaysia.

The festival aims to promote culture, tradition and heritage towards convergence and cooperation in the ASEAN film industry, popularizing ASEAN films in international markets. This year’s event draws the participation of countries in the region with 29 films.

The award ceremony will take place on April 27th.

A scence in The Tap Box
The Tap Box tells the story of the relationship between a ‘cai luong’ (reformed theater art) artist and a gangster with a love for the art, set in 1980s Ho Chi Minh City. It won for Leon Le the Best Director award at the Sharm El-Sheikh Asian Film Festival in Egypt last month, and Tokyo Gemstone Award for actor Lien Binh Phat at Japan’s Tokyo International Film Festival in 2018.

A scence in the Like An Old House
Like An Old House, released in 2017, tells the story of a mother who waits for her son for 30 years after he fled home facing false charges of murder. The film has been hailed for actress Kim Xuan's performance./.
