The working session between Vietnam’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien and China’s Minister of Culture Luo Shugang

At the working session, the two Ministers emphasized common awareness of senior leaders of the two countries on strengthening cultural cooperation, promoting exchanges of people of the two countries.

They reviewed cooperation and implementation of the cultural cooperation agreement in the 2016-2018 period and highlighted outstanding results in bilateral cooperation. In 2017, leaders of the two ministries paid many working visits. On the occasion of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President Xi Jinping’s visit to Vietnam, the two sides launched a centre of Chinese culture in Hanoi. Many cultural activities were held on the occasion of visits by senior leaders of the two countries. 

The two sides coordinated to successfully organise photo exhibitions titled “Vietnam in the eyes of Chinese photographers” and “China in the eyes of Vietnamese photographers”, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in cultural industry.

The Ministers agreed to establish mechanisms for annual meetings between officials of the two Ministries, and decided on orientation for cultural cooperation in 2019-2021, focusing on the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, art training, and development of the cultural industry.

During the visit, Minister Thien had working sessions with leaders from the China National Tourism Administration and State General Administration of Sports; visited the Vietnamese Embassy in China; and attended the opening ceremony of an exhibition of traditional Lunar New Year paintings of Vietnam and China in Beijing./.
