Vietnam hands over film on President Souphanouvong to Laos

The Vietnam Cinema Association has handed over the documentary film on President Souphanouvong’s relations with Vietnam to the Kaysone Phonvihane Museum in Vientiane, Laos.

It was part of activities to commemorate the 109th birthday of Laos President Souphanouvong (July 13th) and deepen Vietnam-Laos special relation.

The 60 minute-long film was shot in April 2017 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation. 

Two parts of the film tell the life stories of President Souphanouvong when he studied in Vietnam;  outstanding architectural works he designed when he worked in the central province of Nha Trang such as Phan Thiet waterfall; and the historic meeting of Prince Souphanouvong with President Ho Chi Minh in September 1945 and his escape from Phonkheng prison of Vientiane capital city in July 1959.

The documentary illustrates the relations of the Lao President with Vietnam, his contributions to the countries’ revolutions and the Vietnam-Laos friendship.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Singthong Singhapanya, acting head of the Khaysone Phomvihane Museum thanked Vietnam Cinema Association for making the film. He affairmed that the film not only help museum system in Laos have additional lively document about Laos-Vietnam special relation, Lao people, especially young people understanding more about the friendship. The presentation is more significance on the occasion of  Lao celebration of the 109th anniversary of President Souphanouvong’s birth.

Dr. Singthong Singhapanya  said that the film will be broadcast on the Lao National Television./.
