Vietnam - Laos border culture, sport and tourism exchange in Son La

A cultural, sport and tourism exchange programme between border localities of Vietnam and Laos has opened in the northern mountainous province of Son La on July 5th.

More than 200 athletes from seven provinces participated, including the northern provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Tri, Quang Binh and Nghe An, the northern mountainous provinces of Son La and Dien Bien, and the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum.

Nearly 200 athletes participated in sport exchanges.

In addition, activities to introduce and popularize cultural and tourist products of ethnic minority people in border localities of Vietnam and Laos; and an exhibition on people and potentials of Vietnam-Lao border provinces during integration and development are being held.

Dang Van Hung, director of Son La provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the event has special significance in the preservation of cultural values of ethnic people in the province.

The event is an opportunity to promote friendship and solidarity among ethnic people in Vietnam-Lao border provinces. It will run through July 7th, 2017./.
