Vietnam receives 33 valuable documentaries from Netherlands

The Vietnam Film Institute has received from the Dutch Healthcare Authority and Joris Ivens Archives Institute 33 valuable documentaries that foreign producers made in Vietnam in the 1960s and 1970s.

29 of these films were produced by foreign film makers in Vietnam in 1970s and were presented by the Dutch Healthcare Authority. The rest were handed by Joris Ivens Archives Institute. In addition, the Joris Ivens Archives Institute donated 2,000-page documents, 140 photos and posters by film maker Joris Ivens from 1965 to 1968.

All the films are ensured by copyrights and will hit Vietnam cinema in the near future.

Worthy of note is one titled “Meeting with President Ho Chi Minh”, the last foreign film recording of President Ho Chi Minh.

Addressing at the event, Nienke Trooster - Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam, Vuong Duy Bien - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Adrian Spijkers - Representative from the Joris Ivens Archives Institute, and Guss Paardekoopder - General Director of the Dutch Healthcare Authority shared information on cooperation, preservation and promotion of these films in Vietnam.

Acting Head of the Vietnam Film Institute Vu Nguyen Hung said that the institute will cooperate with relevant agencies to organize international seminar on Joris Ivens in 2018 as part of activities to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the Dutch Healthcare Authority and the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries./.
