Vietnam Tourism and Culture Days open in Laos

The opening ceremony for Vietnamese Tourism and Culture Days took place on July 17th in Vientiane, as part of activities to celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Laos, and 40 years of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation.

The event aims to strengthen bilateral solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.

During the event, there is a photo exhibition featuring land, people, natural heritage sites and tangible and intangible cultural heritage recognised by UNESCO in Vietnam, as well as a music and dance performance on relations between Vietnam and Laos, and a tourism promotion workshop.

In addition, there is a showroom on major cities in Vietnam, traditional festivals in Vietnam, tourism products, traditional musical instruments and Ao dai.

More than 1,000 books in Vietnamese on social sciences, literature, history and children are also displayed at a book exhibition in Laos.

Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone highlighted the traditional friendship between the two countries which was founded by Presidents Ho Chi Minh, Kaysone Phomvihane and Suphanuvong.

Despite complex regional and global events, the relations between Vietnam and Laos have thrived, he said, adding that the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation is an historic document./.
