World Press Photo Exhibition first comes to Vietnam in 15 years!

(CPV) - From June 16th to July 6th, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Vietnam Journalists Association will bring the World Press Photo Exhibition 2018 to Hanoi at Vietnam Fine Arts University, No.42 Yet Kieu, Hoan Kiem district.

The World Press Photo Exhibition visits over 100 major cities around the world, and attracts four million visitors every year.

This year’s event consists of 130 photographs featuring a number of categories such as contemporary issues, environment, general news, nature, people, and sports.

For the very first time in 15 years, this world renown exhibition of the best and most memorable press photographs, showcasing stories that make people stop, feel, think and act, will visit Vietnam. Singapore, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Macau (China) are other Asian destinations in 2018.

It is part of activities to welcome 45 years of Vietnam - the Netherlands diplomatic relations. The Embassy and Consulate-General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh city will organize a series of events throughout the year. The Dutch Days in Da Nang city (May 25th-26th), Da Lat city (June 8th-9th), Hai Phong city (2nd half of September) and Can Tho city (November 5th-6th) will respectively take place with topics of trade and investment, education and culture.

For almost five decades, the Netherlands has contributed to Vietnam’s transition into the lower middle-income country. The Dutch development aid was mainly agriculture, water management, women economic empowerment, sanitation, health care, labor conditions in the garment sector, and nature preservation.

Bilateral trade and investment relations have grown steadily. It is now the 2nd trade partner of Vietnam among EU members, and cumulatively the largest EU investor in Vietnam./.

Founded in 1955 in Amsterdam, the World Press Photo Foundation, is a global platform connecting professionals and audiences through trustworthy visual journalism and storytelling. The annual contest has grown into the world’s most prestigious photo competition.

The patron of World Press Photo Foundation is Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands. It receives support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery and is supported worldwide by Canon as well.
